Vinyasa, meaning « synchronization of movement and breath » in Sanskrit, is a dynamic practice where each movement is guided by the breath. Pranayama is the art of mastering and expanding « vital energy » through breath. In Sanskrit, « Prana » means vital energy, and « Ayama » means expansion. Thus, Pranayama translates to the « expansion of vital energy » and breath control. According to Patanjali, pranayama involves « the cessation of disturbances in breathing, » offering smooth, uninterrupted, and quality breath.
Breathing exercises, or pranayamas, purify the mind, balance the nervous system, and enhance concentration. Through regular practice, Pranayama significantly reduces stress, allowing for better mind control and the release of emotional blockages. This practice also prepares the body and mind for easier entry into meditation, facilitating a deep inner journey. A yoga practitioner and teacher, Morgan is the founder of Moga Yoga Studio. His deep connection to yoga began 11 years ago after living in India, an experience that profoundly shaped his vision and practice of yoga. He trained intensively in Mysore, Paris, New York, and Morocco, enriching his understanding and teaching of yoga through the diverse traditions of these iconic regions. For Morgan, yoga is much more than a series of physical asanas; it is a path to liberation itself, as taught in the vibrant tradition of contemporary yoga.
